Ingredion Incorporated Controls Engineering Intern (Summer 2019) in Bedford Park, Illinois
We are seeking a motivated student to hire for our Controls Internship opportunity. You will be responsible for assisting our Argo engineers with controlling production processes using modern computerized process control systems and instrumentation. You will also be applying concepts learned in engineering and engineering-related classes to applications in the field.
As the Controls Engineer Intern, your responsibilities will include:
Being responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of any contractors working on projects with a goal of completing projects with zero safety or environmental incidents
Becoming familiar with a production channel and their associated control systems utilizing Allen Bradly PLCs, Provox, Foxboro and/or DeltaV Distributed Control Systems
Becoming familiar with process measurement and control devices, such as control valves and process transmitters
Learning how to implement programming changes and how to time in new field devices to the computer control system
Utilizing alarm monitoring systems to analyze alarm frequencies, recommending improvements to alarm handling, and implementing approved alarm changes
Working with assigned project team to identify new process measurement instrumentation requirements on a small process system, researching and recommending appropriate measurement instrument
Determining measurement instrument installation requirements, control system software configuration requirements and working with team to see through the complete installation and configuration

Qualified candidates will have:
Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred
Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term
Skills and a demonstrated interest in computers and programming, with knowledge in one or more language preferred
Ability to self-teach from manuals and documentation
Ability to tackle problems, identify improvement opportunities, implement action plans and follow-up to ensure results
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and prepare concisely written reports
Proven analytical problem solving, multi-tasking, and time management skills
Experience with PC Applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
