Ingredion Incorporated Food Science Intern - Technical Service Culinology in NJ, United States
Ingredion's Technical Service Culinology team is seeking an intern who will evaluate different clean label texturizers, specialty sweeteners and nutritional food ingredients in a variety of culinary applications and formulations. As an intern within our team, you will compare performance to products made with standard texturizers and core sweeteners (high fructose corn syrup, Glucose &/or sugar) as well as control model formulas for bakery items with and without addition of specialty nutritional ingredients. This will provide you with the chance to create experiments, learn and apply formulation skills, characterize the products, and interpret results.
As a Technical Service Intern – Culinology, your responsibilities will include:
Identifying and demonstrating value propositions for different clean label, specialty sweetener, nutritional additives and emerging food ingredients that are on trend and offer the potential for new or expanded business with customers
Managing work packages, working both independently and reciprocally, to meet project timelines and deliverables
Conducting formulation and evaluation in our Culinology Center and pilot plant to advance projects
Maintaining a clean, safe work environment all while following established guidelines for good housekeeping, GMPs, SafeServ and safety
Presenting prototypes, project status, updates and outcomes to team and partners
Analyzing and understanding data, results, and scientific literature to advance projects
Making presentations and writing technical reports
The Technical Service Intern – Culinology position is well suited for you if you:

Qualified candidates will have:
Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinology, Culinary Nutrition, Culinary Science or a related field
Demonstrated experience in hands-on culinary recipe/formulation development using a commercially equipped kitchen, laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment/processes preferred
Taken a Food Science Product Development Classes a plus
A minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0
Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical reports
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
